English: My 2nd song on the Fête de la Musique in Cologne (Rheinauhafen) in June 2015 was called “Right Now”. To be honest – this is one of my favorite songs. The song’s of course melancholic but it is not one of my sad songs. What do you think?

Robert Artley – The first music video of my song „My time will come“

English: My daughter Sarah had the idea to create a music video of one of my songs. She made the concept for the song „My time will come“, recorded the video on the northernmost German island Sylt in the North Sea during our last 2 summer vacations und finalized the cut. I am really enthusiastic about the result. She did an awesome job.

Deutsch: Meine Tochter Sarah hatte die Idee, ein Musikvideo zu einem meiner Songs zu machen. Sie hat sich ein Konzept zu meinem Song „My time will come“ überlegt, dann das Video auf der Nordseeinsel Sylt in den letzten beiden Ferien aufgenommen und jetzt geschnitten. Ich bin von dem Ergebnis begeistert. Sie hat das echt super klasse gemacht hat.

English: I started my performance on the Fête de la Musique in Cologne (Rheinauhafen) in June 2015 with my song called “You don’t say a word”. This song is about wanting to help a good friend cause you feel something seems to be not ok but unfortunately he/she is not opening up. So you try to help but you are powerless. I think it is always good to talk with friends and people you trust about problems. Friends should be always there for each other – in good and bad times.

Deutsch: Ich habe mein Programm bei der Fête de la Musique in Köln (Rheinauhafen) im Juni 2015 mit meinem Song „You don’t say a word“ begonnen. Der handelt davon, dass man manchmal einem guten Freund oder einer guten Freundin helfen möchte, da man fühlt, dass etwas nicht stimmt, aber er/sie will sich nicht öffnen. Man versucht zu helfen, ist aber machtlos. Ich denke, dass es immer gut ist, mit Freunden oder Vertrauenspersonen über aktuelle Probleme zu sprechen. Freunde sollten immer füreinander da sein – in guten und in schlechten Zeiten.

English: First of all – many thanks to all my friends and colleagues who came to listen to my songs. A lot of you haven’t seen me this way – so thank you so much for supporting me!

My song „Mehr nicht“ was the 5th song on my set list during the Fête de la Musique in Cologne in front of the Chocolate Museum and to be honest I was not 100% clear if I should sing it on this festival. This song against war is possibly not for everybody and may not fit to such a festival, but I decided to do it. It is one of my oldest songs and I never played it in public. So – what do you think?

Deutsch: Zu allererst – vielen Dank an alle meine Freunde und Kollegen, die gekommen waren, um mir zu zuhören!! Viele haben mich so noch nicht gesehen – daher danke sehr für die Unterstützung!

Mein Lied “Mehr nicht” war der 5. Song auf meiner Setlist auf der Fête de la Musique in Köln im Rheinauhafen vor dem Schokoladenmuseum. Dieses Antikriegslied is vermutlich nicht Jedermanns Sache und scheint auch nicht richtig auf ein solches Festival zu passen, aber ich habe mich trotzdem für diesen Song entscheiden. Er ist einer meiner ältesten Lieder und ich habe ihn noch nie öffentlich gespielt. Also – was denkt ihr?

English: I am very pleased, that I will play and sing my own songs at the Fête de la Musique in the Rheinauhafen in Cologne this year. On Sunday (21st June 2015, 15:00-15:30) I will perform on stage in front of the Chocolate Museum. I hope the weather will be fine and nobody has to stand in the rain. This would be a great pity, not only for the audience but also for the artists. Enclosed you’ll find the festival poster and the program with all the bands, artists and choirs.

Deutsch: Ich freue mich sehr, dass ich dieses Jahr wieder auf der Fête de la Musique im Kölner Rheinauhafen meine eigenen Lieder singen und spielen darf. Dieses Mal wird man mich am Sonntag (21.6.15, 15-15:30) auf der Bühne vor dem Schokoladenmuseum hören können. Ich hoffe, dass das Wetter einigermaßen wird und niemand im Regen stehen muss. Das wäre echt schade – nicht nur für die Zuhörer, sondern auch für die Künstler. Unten sieht man sowohl das Plakat als auch das Programm diese Musikfestivals mit allen Bands, Künstlern und Chören.

English: Let’s see if I will get the chance again to perform my own songs and maybe some cover songs at the Fête de la Musique in Cologne this year. The „Fête“ will take place as usual at the 21st of June, so this year it will be a Sunday.

In the video you see/hear one of my songs (Real Love) played at the acoustic location 3. I was glad to play my acoustic music connected with my little amp, because otherwise it would have been hard to hear (ships and trains were passing by in the background 🙂 ). Thanks again to the nice audience!

 

Deutsch: Ich bin gespannt, ob ich auch dieses Jahr wieder die Chance bekomme meine eigenen und vielleicht ein paar Coversongs auf der Fête de la Musique in Köln zu spielen. Die „Fête“ findet wie üblich am 21. Juni satt; dieses Jahr ist das ein Sonntag. In dem Video sieht/hört man einen meiner eigenen Songs („Real Love“), gespielt an der „Acoustic Location 3“. Ich war froh, dass ich meine akustische Musik mit meinem kleinen Amp verstärkt hatte, denn sonst wäre es etwas schwierig gewesen mich zu hören (Schiffe und Züge sind im Hintergrund vorbeigefahren 🙂 ). Vielen Dank nochmal an das nette Publikum.

English: The Premiere – the very first live music performance – with my new band „SONIC LiQUID“ was a great success yesterday evening. The audience was fantastic and very open for our new songs. Their feedback was super.

I personally was very happy about the visit of old friends with whom I used to make music about 28 years ago. They partially traveled for this event more than 100 km. This is really the unifying force of music!

Below you’ll find the slideshow of a few pictures incl. our song „Afraid of you“ in the background. We enjoyed the concert very much and celebrated afterwards.

Deutsch: Die gestrige Premiere meiner neuen Band „SONIC LiQUID“ war ein voller Erfolg. Das Publikum war gut drauf und sehr offen für unsere neuen Songs. Das Feedback war großartig.

Ich persönlich habe mich sehr über den Besuch alter Freunde gefreut, mit denen ich vor ca. 28 Jahren Musik gemacht habe. Sie sind extra für dieses Event teilweise mehr als 100 km angereist. Musik verbindet eben!

English: Tomorrow I will perform with my new Rockband „SONIC LiQUID“ live on stage our first 9 songs. This will be an exciting event for all of us.

The Cover-Rockband TWEEG has invited us as supporting act in the restaurant of the soccer hall in Huerth near Cologne (their bassist knows our drummer 🙂 ). We will start at 20:00 (11.4.2015).

We will celebrate anyway, but we are very curious how the audience will react.

Deutsch: Morgen werde ich zusammen mit meiner neuen Rockband „SONIC LiQUID“ unsere ersten 9 Songs live vorstellen. Das wird ein sehr aufregendes Ereignis für uns alle werden.

Die Cover-Rockband TWEEG hat uns als Vorgruppe eingeladen (ihr Bassist kennt unseren Schlagzeuger 🙂 ). Sie werden dann nach uns im Restaurant der Soccer Hall in Hürth in der Nähe von Köln spielen. Das Ganze fängt um 20:00 Uhr (11.4.2015) an.
