While checking my Youtube channel, I stumbled over a slide show of pictures reflecting the last years with my music. You’ll see some pics of my former band “Backporch Stringband” (–> Bluegrass Music) in Sindelfingen, pictures in the ARTheater in Cologne during the show “Kunst gegen Bares” with or without Hildegart Scholten ( 🙂 –> many regards!), on the “Fete de la Musique” in Cologne (–> Singer/Songwriter) and last but not least with “SONIC LiQUID” (–> Rock Music).
Music was recorded live with my hard disk recorder at a jam session with the “Backporch Stringband” (not perfect, but I like it!). I wrote the song “You don’t say a word” some years ago.

English: I know that my song „Waiting for a better time“ is quite unusual for the repertoire of my band SONIC LiQUID, but it fits perfectly into this blog. I wrote it several years ago and the „Feldmann-Heide-Band“ – one of my first bands – liked the song so much that we arranged it for drums, percussion, 2 electric guitars, 12-string guitar, 2 keyboards, bass and saxophone (Rock/Pop style). Unfortunately I haven’t got a good recording of this version. But I recorded an acoustic version of this song during a live jam session in the south of Germany with my former Band „Backporch Stringband“ and I played my Singer/Songwriter version during the Fête de la Musique in front of the chocolate museum in Cologne last year. So some of these versions can be found in this blog (see 26th April 2014 (Artheater in Cologne), 4th May 2014 (Backporch Stringband) and 6th September (Fête de la Musique)) and in Soundcloud.
The freshest variation of this song is the SONIC LiQUID version, which was video recorded during our concert in the Blue Shell Club in Cologne in November last year. Here you’ll find the YouTube video.
Although this song isn’t new, the lyrics are still current!
Deutsch: Ich weiss, dass mein Song „Waitig for a better time“ recht ungewöhnlich für das Repertoire meiner aktuellen Band SONIC LiQUID ist, aber es passt prima in diesen Blog. Ich habe ihn vor einigen Jahren geschrieben. Der Feldmann-Heide-Band – einer meiner ersten Bands – hat er so gut gefallen, dass wir ihn für Schlagzeug, Percussion, 2 E-Guitarren, 12-saitige Gitarre, 2 Keyboards, Bass und Saxophon in Richtung Rock/Pop arrangiert haben. Davon habe ich jedoch leider keine gute Aufnahme. Dann hab ich den Song in einer Akustikversion mit der Backporch Stringband während einer Jamsession in Süddeutschland live aufgenommen und im letzten Jahr auf der Fête de la Musique vor dem Schokoladenmuseum in Köln gespielt. Ein paar der alten Versionen findet ihr in diesem Blog (26.4.14 (Arttheater in Köln), 4.5.14 (Backporch Stringband) und 6.9.15 (Fête de la Musique).
Die aktuellste SONIC LiQUID-Version wurde während eine Konzertes im November letzten Jahres im Blue Shell Club in Köln aufgenommen. Hört und seht selbst in dem YouTube-Video.
Obwohl der Song für mich nicht neu ist, ist der Text immer noch aktuell!
English: I have combined 3 languages (German, French and English) in one song. The German title “Der Fremde” means “L’étranger” in French and “Foreigner” in English. The song is about loneliness.
All the different languages have got a different sound. What do you think?
Deutsch: Ich habe in einem Lied 3 Sprachen (Deutsch, Französisch und Englisch) kombiniert. Der Deutsche Titel “Der Fremde” bedeutet “L’étranger” auf Französisch und “Foreigner” auf Englisch. Der Song handelt von der Einsamkeit.
Die verschiedenen Sprachen klingen gesungen sehr unterschiedlich. Was denkt ihr?
English: My song „Ich will ausruh’n“ (“I want to (take a) rest”) was the 6th song on my set list during the Fête de la Musique in Cologne in front of the Cholcolate Museum (Rheinauhafen, 21st Juni 2015). I didn’t want to play English songs only so the second half of my set was more in German and a bit of everything.
I always get very good feedback regarding this song especially. So what do you think?
Deutsch: Mein Lied “ Ich will ausruh’n ” war der 6. Song auf meiner Setlist auf der Fête de la Musique in Köln im Rheinauhafen vor dem Schokoladenmuseum (21.06.2015). Ich wollte dieses Mal nicht nur Englische Songs spielen, also war die zweite Hälfte meines Sets in Deutsch und einem bisschen von allem.
Ich bekomme speziell für diesen Song immer sehr gutes Feedback. Also – was denkt ihr?
English: My 4th song on the Fête de la Musique in Cologne (Rheinauhafen) in June 2015 is called “Waiting for a better time”. I have played several versions of this songs in the last years and currently my band SONIC LiQUID is performing the latest one. Unfortunately they had no time for the Fête de la Musique in Cologne this year, so I played on my own.
The picture was taken during the premiere with my new Band SONIC LiQUID. We are currently planning our next concert with 2 other bands in Cologne in November. I’ll keep you informed.

Deutsch: Mein vierter Song auf der Fête de la Musique im Kölner Rheinauhafen im Juni diesen Jahres hieß „Waiting for a better time“. Ich habe schon mehrere verschiedene Versionen dieses Songs in den letzten Jahren gespielt und zur Zeit spielt meine Band SONIC LiQUID die aktuellste. Leider hatten sie keine Zeit für einen Auftritt auf der Fête de la Musique dieses Jahr, daher habe ich allein gespielt.
Das Bild unten wurde während der Premiere mit meiner neuen Band SONIC LiQUID aufgenommen. Wir planen zur Zeit mit noch 2 weitere Bands unseren nächsten Gig in Köln im November. Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden.

English: I started my performance on the Fête de la Musique in Cologne (Rheinauhafen) in June 2015 with my song called “You don’t say a word”. This song is about wanting to help a good friend cause you feel something seems to be not ok but unfortunately he/she is not opening up. So you try to help but you are powerless. I think it is always good to talk with friends and people you trust about problems. Friends should be always there for each other – in good and bad times.

Deutsch: Ich habe mein Programm bei der Fête de la Musique in Köln (Rheinauhafen) im Juni 2015 mit meinem Song „You don’t say a word“ begonnen. Der handelt davon, dass man manchmal einem guten Freund oder einer guten Freundin helfen möchte, da man fühlt, dass etwas nicht stimmt, aber er/sie will sich nicht öffnen. Man versucht zu helfen, ist aber machtlos. Ich denke, dass es immer gut ist, mit Freunden oder Vertrauenspersonen über aktuelle Probleme zu sprechen. Freunde sollten immer füreinander da sein – in guten und in schlechten Zeiten.

My song „Mehr nicht“ was the 5th song on my set list during the Fête de la Musique in Cologne in front of the Chocolate Museum and to be honest I was not 100% clear if I should sing it on this festival. This song against war is possibly not for everybody and may not fit to such a festival, but I decided to do it. It is one of my oldest songs and I never played it in public. So – what do you think?

Dieses Antikriegslied is vermutlich nicht Jedermanns Sache und scheint auch nicht richtig auf ein solches Festival zu passen, aber ich habe mich trotzdem für diesen Song entscheiden. Er ist einer meiner ältesten Lieder und ich habe ihn noch nie öffentlich gespielt. Also – was denkt ihr?
