After winning a first price in the regional competition of young musicians „Jugend musiziert“ (category: Piano), Sarah attended the state competition in Münster (NRW) last week. Of course we supported her and we had a great day. The weather was awesome and we spend some time in the outside between the registration and the performance. Finally Sarah won a 3rd price in her category and we are all proud and happy! See the picture taken during the warming-up:
I have recently uploaded a video of our latest song “Twisted Lies” in my YouTube Channel . This is showing pictures from my band SONIC LiQUID in our rehearsal room and on stage. I have added the lyrics as well so you can read along. 🙂

English: Unbelievable – Sarah did it again!! She won a first price in the German regional young musician competition „Jugend musiziert“ (this time category: Piano, solo) and has got the chance to perform again in Münster. This will be the state-wide competion.
This was really very unexpected and she is super happy now (and: I am very proud of course!).
I took the video (parts of her programme with Bach, Beethoven and Mendelssohn) during the warm-up short before her performance. Enjoy!
Deutsch: Unglaublich – Sarah hat es erneut gemacht!! Sie hat einen ersten Preis mit Weiterleitung bei „Jugend musiziert“ gewonnen (dieses Mal in Kategorie: Klavier, solo). Jetzt darf sie beim Landeswettbewerb in Münster erneut ihr Können zeigen.
Das kam wirklich sehr unerwartet und sie ist super glücklich (und: Ich bin natürlich sehr stolz!).
Das Video (Ausschnitte ihres Programms mit Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn) habe ich während des Einspielens kurz vor ihrem Auftritt aufgenommen. Viel Spaß!
Our next performance will be in the well-known Blue Shell Club in Cologne on the 31st of January (doors: 19:00, start: 20:00). In November 2015 we had our first concert in this club and here we are again for the 4th time in the same location. The German Pop Band LOST IN LUCY is organizing this concert and asked us to be part of it. This time the German newcomer Post/Punk band COLUMBUS (from Aachen) will support us. That’s their very first concert and we are pleased to introduce them.

Sie nutzen klare Worte, reale Bilder und Geschichten, visuelle und akustische Kontroversen. Lost in Lucy ist nicht nur für Augen und Ohren, wohl mehr ein kleiner Chinaböller für die Seele, der sicher Spuren hinterlässt.

COLUMBUS

COLUMBUS – German POST-PUNK Band – 2016
Als Newcomer wurde im Sommer 2016 die Band „Columbus“ in Aachen gegründet. Columbus ist ein Quartett aus vier Jungs, welches sich seitdem ganz dem deutschsprachigen Punk und Post-Punk verschrieben hat.
Die Besonderheit Ihrer Musik findet sich in der speziellen Klangfarbe Ihrer Songs wieder, welche eine Anlehnung an Bands wie Marathonmann und Fjørt zulassen.
Es ist ihr Premierenauftritt, und somit ihre erste Gelegenheit ihre Werke vor Kulisse zum Besten zu geben…Das Blue Shell wird zum Tanzen eingeladen!

English: Already approx. 2 weeks ago Sarah and I sang for the very first time one of Sarahs songs („With her dies the world“) as a duet. A few days before Sarah asked me to perform with her at an exhibition. Of course I said yes! As you see and hear in the video it was performed live and completely unplugged! It was great and we’ll certainly do this again.
Deutsch: Es ist schon 2 ungefähr 2 Wochen her, dass Sarah und ich das allererste Mal im Duett eines von Sarahs Songs („With her dies the world“) gesungen haben. Sarah hatte mich ein paar Tage zuvor gefragt, ob wir nicht anläßlich einer Ausstellung etwas zusammen machen könnten. Natürlich habe ich ja gesagt! Wie man in dem Video sehen und hören kann, haben wir live und komplett ohne Verstärkung gespielt und gesungen! Das war klasse und wir werden das bestimmt noch einmal machen.
English: We had a great concert with all the other 8 bands at the SPH Bandcontest in Bochum (Matrix/Rockpalast) even though we couldn’t make it to the final. It was awesome to perform our own music on stage and it’s really super to get feedback by the audience which was as half old as we are! 🙂
Now we are focusing on our 1st EP, songwriting and the next concerts in 2017! See attached some pictures I took backstage.
Deutsch: Wir hatten ein großartiges Konzert zusammen mit den anderen 8 Bands beim SPH Bandcontest in Bochum (Matrix/Rockpalast) obwohl wir das Finale nicht erreichen konnten. Es war klasse wieder mal auf einer Bühne die eigene Musik zu performen und es war wirklich super das Feedback des Publikums zu bekommen, das im Durchschnitt halb so alt war wie wir. 🙂
Wir fokussieren uns nun wieder auf unsere erste EP, das Songwriting und die nächsten Konzerte in 2017! Hier eine paar Fotos u.a. aus dem Backstage Bereich in Bochum.

English: Unbelievable, but true – after successfully passing the 1st preliminary round and the city final, we have also passed the regional final! The Blueshell club was really busy, we were in a good mood and the audience was absolutely fantastic!
Now we are qualified for the pre-final of the SPH-Bandcontest and we’ll play on stage of the Rockpalast / Matrix in Bochum (18th November 2016; see the flyer on the right). I have never received so much great feedback, and our fans really appreciated our new song “It’s Time”.

SONIC LIQUID from Cologne were the fifth band of the evening showcasing their skills. All five musicians seem as if they were created for their instruments. With these, they create straightforward but still diverse rock music, especially the singing expressive voice of singer Robert was especially remarkable. With his sympathetic, authentic and professional style he inspires both the audience and the jury. The whole band is on a high musical level and is thus in second place and in the pre-finals!
Our EP is not yet ready, so you have to be a bit more patient!

Deutsch: Unglaublich, aber wahr – wir haben es nach der Vorrunde, dem Stadtfinale und dem Regionalfinale wieder eine Runde weiter geschafft! Wir waren gut drauf, das Blueshell war richtig voll und das Publikum war absolut fantastisch!
Jetzt sind wir im Vorfinale des SPH-Bandcontests angekommen und spielen am 18.11.2016 im Rockpalast/Matrix in Bochum (siehe rechts im Blog den Flyer). Ich habe noch nie so viel gutes Feedback bekommen und unsere Fans fanden den neuen Song “It’s Time” ebenfalls klasse.

Hier die Jury-Kritik zu unserer Performance:
SONIC LIQUID aus Köln stellen als fünfte Band des Abends ihr Können zur Schau. Alle fünf Musiker machen den Eindruck, als wären sie für ihre Instrumente geschaffen. Mit diesen erschaffen sie gradlinige aber dennoch abwechslungsreiche Rock-Musik, bei der vor allem der ausdrucksstarke Gesang von Sänger Robert auffällt. Mit seiner sympathischen, authentischen und dabei professionellen Art begeistert er das Publikum genauso wie die Jury. Die gesamte Band bewegt sich auf einem musikalisch hohen Niveau und schafft es damit auf dem zweiten Platz und in die Pre-Finals!
Unsere EP ist noch nicht fertig, also muss man sich noch ein bisschen gedulden!
