Sometimes Sarah and I find the time to make music together at the weekend. This time we even recorded one of those rare moments. so you hear and see one of our favorite cover songs, which is from the movie “Once”.

English: The title of Sarah’s second song at the open stage „Kunst gegen Bares“ (ARTheater , Cologne, Germany) is „Try“. She wrote this song some months ago and she really enjoys to be on stage.

Deutsch: Der zweite Song von Sarah bei der offenen Bühne „Kunst gegen Bares“ im Kölner ARTheater heisst „Try“. Sie hat diesen Song vor ein paar Monaten geschrieben und sie hat wirklich Spaß auf der Bühne zu sein.

English: The show „Kunst gegen Bares“ („Art for Cash“) is an open stage and the audience decides at the end of each show which performance suits them best. The votes for the acts are given by throwing money into the piggy banks of the artists respectively. The one who gets the most money is winning the show and is nominated as so-called “Kapitalistenschwein” of the evening. Sarah was second best after the comedian Simon Stäblein. She was very happy and I was super proud! She really deserved it!
In the Youtube video you’ll find her first song “Stay in my heart” which she wrote approx. 4 years ago.
Deutsch: Die Show „Kunst gegen Bares“ ist eine offene Bühne bei der am Ende das Publikum entscheidet welcher Künstler/-in am besten gefallen hat. Man wirft dazu so viel Geld in das jeweilige Sparschwein, wie einem der Auftritt wert war. Am Schluß wird das Geld gezählt und derjenige der das meiste Geld bekommt wird zum „Kapitalistenschwein“ gekürt. Sarah hat nach dem Comedian Simon Stäblein den zweiten Platz gemacht. Sie war sehr glücklich und ich war sehr stolz. Sie hat’s wirklich verdient!

I am very proud that she likes writing songs and performing these live on stage in front of a larger audience. I really respect her courage!

Deutsch: Meine Tochter Sarah wird dieses Mal 2 ihrer neuen Songs live auf der offenen Bühne „Kunst gegen Bares“ im Kölner ARTheater am Montag den 12. Januar 2015 spielen und singen. Start: 20:00; Einlass: 19:00.
Ich bin sehr stolz auf sie, denn sie mag es Lieder zu schreiben und diese auch live einem größeren Publikum vorzustellen. Ich habe wirklich großen Respekt vor ihrem Mut!

English: My daughter Sarah performed this challenging composition from Franz Liszt „Consolation 2“ during a concert of her music school. I am super proud that she likes making music and writing songs. She is also enjoying playing classical piano compositions and you can see this in the Youtube video.
Deutsch: Meine Tochter Sarah hat dieses Musikstück von Franz Liszt „Consolation 2“ während eines Konzertes ihrer Musikschule gespielt. Es macht mich natürlich super stolz, dass ihr Musik machen und Lieder schreiben gefällt. Sie findest es außerdem toll klassische Musikstücke zu spielen. Das Youtube Video zeigt das.
Stand-up music comedy @ Kunst gegen Bares: Hildegart Scholten & Robert Artley (Piano: Daniel Slawik)
My last performance at the open stage „Kunst gegen Bares“ in Cologne, Germany on the 20th October 2014 was again something new and very special for me. The comedian Hildegart Scholten, who is one of the 2 moderators of the show, asked me to spontaneously support her after I had already sang my songs in the first half of the show. I already did this twice with Hildegart Scholten as described in previous blogs, but this time she also asked the piano player Daniel Slawik who is performing with her from time to time. So I did not play the guitar, but I just sang spontaneously without knowing anything – neither lyrics nor melody. Everything was improvised – no script and no rehearsal in advance. That was fun and exciting and the audience confirmed with a huge applause that this was also fun for them. Sorry that this music comedy is in German, but maybe all the non-native speakers can feel that this was really an awesome event! You find it on Youtube and here – Feedback welcome!
As already said in my last blog, Sarah started early with writing songs and I am proud and glad that she likes it and… she is not afraid performing her songs live on stage.

She is still very young but she is already naturally turning her emotions into music. As a father – of course I am proud. Sometimes we are making music together at the weekend. These moments are always very special.
Here you’ll find one of her songs. She was very sad when her best friend moved to another town and she totally lost the contact. It seems for her it was like dying. Please send us your feedback:
